The High Blood Pressure Research Council has recently transitioned to Hypertension Australia. Their mission and vision have expanded, with new Board positions available that have a wider scope and reach than in the previous Council.
They are keen to establish a high level skills-based board and invite CSANZ members to consider nominating for open board positions below:

We are delighted to announce the 2023 R T Hall Prize was awarded to Prof Gemma Figtree AM. The RT Hall Prize is the most prestigious research award of CSANZ and recognises the achievements of senior and established investigators.
Over the last 10 years Prof Figtree has led an expanding international team addressing the mechanisms and unmet needs regarding clinical pathways for patients who develop coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction despite no standard modifiable risk factors (SMuRFs).
She is the National Scientific Lead of the large global clinical trial AEGIS II and was appointed to the adjudication panel, co-leading the heart failure analyses and publications for the highly cited CANVAS program demonstrating of benefits of SGLT2 inhibition in diabetics.
Using validated pre-clinical models, she has made seminal contributions that have provided unique insights into the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease susceptibility.
CSANZ will be hosting the American College of Cardiology In-Training Exam to be held on 17 and 18 October, 2023. The online exam is open to Cardiology Advanced Trainees in Australia and New Zealand. The exam comprises 150 MCQs and will be proctored via Zoom.

The CSANZ WA was pleased to host a pre-ASM meeting on Tuesday July 25 at the UWA club. The event was organised by Abdul Ihdayhid, Girish Dwivedi and Jamie Rankin to provide an opportunity for our junior colleagues to practice their presentations, including questions from senior colleagues, before the big event. This year we are pleased to report a record number of prize contenders from WA. The evening was generously sponsored by Astra Zeneca, Amgen and Biotronik.
